A wedding celebrant is a trained professional who has the experience and creativity to design and conduct weddings that reflect the unique personalities of the couple. Unlike religious ceremonies, celebrants offer complete flexibility in terms of location, structure, and content, allowing you to design a ceremony that feels authentic and true to you.
In order to be legally married and have a celebrant to lead a bespoke celebration, couples will need to be married legally at a register office. They will only need to have the Statutory Wedding Ceremony, with the couple and two witnesses present. The couple will need to book this separately, and each county council do this slightly differently. The statutory ceremony is a very short legal ceremony only, at a cost of £56. To be married in a bespoke ceremony celebrating your marriage, you only need the statutory ceremony to be conducted, and you do not need the registrar to be present at the celebration led by the celebrant.

As an independent celebrant, we are able to include components for the service from different faiths, cultures and traditions, which the extended register office weddings are not able to do.

Once you have been legally married in a statutory wedding ceremony, you also do not need to celebrate your marriage in a licensed venue.

In Hampshire, the statutory ceremony takes place in Winchester and Portsmouth- couples only need to book and register for the statutory ceremony.
In order to book your statutory ceremony in any county council, please ring their main register office lines and ask for the short statutory ceremony.

Pricing for Weddings and Vow Renewals is based upon the following:
£650 total
A non-refundable £100 deposit will hold the day and Helen’s services for you as a couple. If the venue is over 20 miles from Billingshurst, West Sussex, then additional mileage will be charged. At the time of writing (January 2026), independent civil celebrants are unable to legally marry couples; so a couple would need to be legally married in a statutory wedding ceremony (for the couple and two witnesses) prior to the celebration of marriage.
